Adopting from Foster Care:

Families For Children is fully licensed by the State of California and we work in partnership with over 35 California counties to find loving, permanent adoptive families for thousands of waiting foster children of all ages who have been removed from their biological parents due to abuse or neglect and are currently dependents of the juvenile court. These children come from a variety of ethnicities including Caucasian, African American, Hispanic and multi-racial backgrounds.

Families For Children offers a full range of adoption services for adoptive parents in with our Concurrent Planning and Adoptive Matching Programs. Which program you choose will depend on the age range you are willing to consider and what level of risk is acceptable to you. One of our experienced adoption workers can discuss all aspects of adopting from foster care with you at a confidential one on one personal orientation, scheduled in one of our 6 Northern California offices at your convenience.

With our full service California adoption license, Families For Children will be with you through the entire adoption process, from certification and home study, to the finalization of your adoption without the need for an attorney. Our programs are designed to enable adoptive parents to explore and consider many options in planning for adoption.

Our goal is to answer your questions and provide information that we hope you will find valuable in beginning your journey into adoption. For a detailed look at adoption requirements and the adoptive placement process, please view our extensive Topics on Adoption.

Foster Care:

*A Focus on Teens*

The call for committed, caring foster families is great in communities across California. Foster families are a part of our professional foster care team, fully supported by our staff in a close working relationship, providing foster children with the education, stability, skills and support they need to succeed in the world as adults. Our social workers recognize and respond to the individual needs of each child and support each family with additional mental health, educational, recreational and treatment resources. All of our foster parents are certified by Families For Children to provide foster care and accept children placed through our agency.

We refer to our foster families as "professional parents", these families care for abused and neglected children who can be best helped in a family setting, augmented by professional services. To assist new Foster Families in beginning the process, we reimburse Fingerprinting Fees and CPR/First Aid training costs. We offer one on one personal interviews to prospective foster parents at their convenience. For a detailed look at Foster Parent requirements and the placement process, please view our Topics on Foster Care.

You can make a difference in your community!
